The Main Characters: Harry Potter (duh), Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
What's the big idea? Ok, Harry goes to this school called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he learns how to be a wizard. Along the way he does battle with Lord Voldemort who is a wizard gone bad and he gave Harry the scar that made him (Harry) famous. With me so far?
More about Hogwarts: In Hogwarts there are four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. It's assumed that Gryffindor is the best house to be in while Slytherin is where to go if you want to be a bad wizard. Classes at Hogwarts range from Charms to Potions to Muggle Studies (a muggle is a non wizarding person).
Quidditch: Quidditch is a game played in the wizarding world much like America's soccer. There are 7 people on a team, a keeper, a seeker, three chasers, and two beaters. There are three types of balls, the quaffle, the bludger, and the golden snitch. The chasers toss the quaffle and try to get through one of three hoops on the end of the field. The keeper tries to stop them from scoring. The beaters hit the bludgers at the opposing team to also stop them from scoring. Each time the quaffle goes through the hoop the team scores ten points. The seeker meanwhile is looking around for the snitch (a small golden ball with wings). When he see it he has to catch it, if he does the team gets 150 points and usually wins the game (there have been exceptions).
